Description

Lali is the story of a Sikh family. It is a narration of turn and turmoil experienced by the community in the recent past, particularly during the second half of the twentieth century.

The year 1984 will be remembered in the Indian history as a year of Himalayan blunder for an unpardonable folly by the insensitive State. It was the year when Golden Temple of Amritsar, the most revered Shrine of Sikh faith was assaulted by the army of its own country followed by the assassination of the Prime Minister of the country and massacre of innocent Sikhs. All right-thinking people irrespective of any caste, creed, or faith were deeply agitated and condemned it.

Lali carries a universal appeal for mutual love and kindness. The distinction between Hindus and Sikhs on a cultural plane is very slender and the social fiber that binds the two communities is much stronger than the divisive and vicious politicking of the power brokers.
